Has anyone used the Sony Alpha Dslr Camera?
Looking for a DSLR Camera - like the look of the Ony DSLR at http://www.alpha100.co.uk but wonder if it's as good as the Canons and Nikons?
Has anyone any direct experience with the Sony?
I have shot it a few times at work, and also in comparison to the Nikon and Canon DSLRs. It is an excellent camera- and it is pretty much the same camera as the Minolta 7D (Minolta was bought out by Sony, so all minolta autofocus lenses- which are available pretty cheap now since Minolta went out of business- will work with that camera). Anyway- It is a little noisy in the shutter, and gives some digital noise at high ISOs. It has a nice grip size- comfortable for both men and women (not like the Canon Rebel's tiny grip)
It is very comparible to both Canon and Nikon. While most people do tend to stick with Canon or Nikon (it is a Ford or Chevy thing in the US), I really see no major benefits of them over the sony alpha. Canon and Nikon also have their own problems. I am even seriously considering buying one for myself, which is a big step since I shoot Canon for film cameras (I cannot get over the Canon's small grip size). It is just something that you have to go in to a store and play with, hold it in your hand, shoot a few frames, talk with knowledgable sales people, etc. I would not buy an SLR without holding it in my hand first.
