Circular PL Camera Lens Filter Question.?
I recently bought a Nikon D80 and have been using it for indoor shots of live theatre. I am taking it with me to Disneyland next week and don't have much/any experience using this camera the way it was intended, in bright sunlight. A friend of mine gave me a Circular PL lens filter as a gift. I was just wondering when I should use this and what the intended purpose is. Also, I notice the it spins (once it is fully screwed on the outer part rotates) and unless I am crazy it appears that it changes the color or something and was wondering how to know what is best to do with this. Thanks.
Polarizers to two things well. 1) Enhance the blue of the sky when the camera is aimed 90 degrees to the sun's arc and 2) remove refection's in shiny objects when shooting in polarized light (the sun or lamps with polarize filters or gels attached to the front of the lamp.
A Circular Polarizing lens is designed to work with cameras with auto-focus lenses.
With the Polarizing Filter attached to your camera, look trough it and adjust it until the sky is darkest or the reflection goes mostly away
