Would a hoya hmc Zoom Lens 75-205mm my dad bought around 1978 for a manual fit a Rebel canon 450D DSLR?
my dad has had this for ages, he had it an old pentax camera and was told it could work with any model at the time.
I'm looking to buy a Canon Eos Rebel Xsi 450D DSLR and am not sure whether this would fit it...
If not, could I get an adapter to help it fit?
From carefully reading your question I'm thinking the old zoom lens your dad bought was an M42 screw-mount. Pentax introduced the venerable K-mount in 1975 or thereabouts so if your dad's Pentax was older it used the screw-mount lens mount. Just look at the end of the lens. If it has threads I'm right. If it doesn't then its a Pentax K-mount and will work on any current Pentax DSLR.
You can buy an adapter for M42 to EOS (EF) mount but its really not worth it. You'll have to use stop-down metering and manual focus. Stop-down metering is really a pain.
