Is it ok to take picture focusing your lense directly to the sun using a UV filter?
Is it ok to take picture focusing your lense directly to the sun using a UV filter? or will it still damge my camera or lense even though I'm using a multicoated UV filter?
NO. It emphatically is not OK you can cause serious damage to your visual system and, contrary to one answer you CAN damage your camera. Any camera with a light meter can be damaged by pointing it directly at the sun especially if it is a through the lens (TTL) meter and even more significantly if a telephoto lens is used. In addition it is possible and relatively easy to burn a hole in the shutter or to damage the image sensor of a Digital Camera.
